Björn Samuelsson was born in Lysekil on the Swedish west coast in 1976, he started to play the euphonium at the age of ten and took up the trombone at 14. After attending the music school and music college he did his military service in the Royal Swedish Army Band. During the year the band toured reguarly in Sweden and also in the United States, Germany and Norway. During the year Björn performed as a featured soloist and was awarded "Best Musician" by the Swedish Military Music Foundation.

From there Björn moved on to Stockholm in 1997 to study at the Royal University of Music in Stockholm. Since then he's played with the leading big bands in Sweden such as the Stockholm Jazz Orchestra, Swedish Radio Jazz Group, Peter Asplund Orchestra, Magnus Lindgren Big Band, Blue House Jazz Orchestra, Mats Holmquist Stora Stygga and Lasse Lindgren Big Constellation. During 2003 Björn toured with LOVE & Arthur Lee in the US, UK, Greece and Spain and performed at the Jools Holland TV-show "Later" on BBC.

Since 2002 he is the lead trombonist with the Bohuslän Big Band in Gothenburg where he lives and plays with local groups including his own quartet. Since Björn started to play professionally he has performed about 1200 times mainly i Sweden, but also in Europe, four concert tours in the UK, Japan, New Zealand, Australia and nine tours to the United States. He is also in demand as a studio musician and his work can be heard on 19 recordings and 4 DVD's.

During 2004-2005 Björn worked with Brian Wilson from The Beach Boys where he plays on the grammy awarded album SMiLE and also on the live dvd with SMiLE recorded in Los Angeles. Touring included two European tours, two US tours, Australia and New Zealand and a performance on the Jay Leno Tonight Show. Stages performed at includes Royal Festival Hall (London), Walt Disney Concert Hall (L.A.), Carneige Hall (N.Y.), Sydney Opera House och Hollywood Bowl (L.A.)
